Sheryl Aaron, LICSW, LCSW-C

As a private practice therapist and faculty member for The Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy, I specialize in helping people heal from and move beyond trauma and other distressing situations. In addition to this area of expertise, I am skilled at helping clients work through anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, addiction, infertility, and parenting concerns.

Prior to starting my own practice, I engaged clients in individual and group therapy at a range of settings, including The University of Maryland Health Center, St. Elizabeth's Hospital, So Others Might Eat and The Viva Center.

A licensed independent clinical social worker in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, I hold a master’s in social work from The Catholic University of America and a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University.

I am a graduate of the Ferentz Institute’s Trauma Certificate Program, received advanced training from EMDR of Greater Washington, and completed specialized training in postpartum mood and anxiety disorders at the renowned Postpartum Stress Center.

I regularly engage in other continuing education courses on complex trauma, attachment, reproductive mental health, mindfulness, somatic imagery and ego state therapy. I also participate in monthly consultation groups to hone my therapeutic understanding and skills.

I am an active member of the Greater Washington Society for Clinical Social Work, EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), DC Metro Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative, and DC Therapist Connect.
